Qualification: M.Sc in Human Nutrition from University of British Columbia
About me:I am a motivated researcher specializing in nutritional science and epigenetics. During my undergraduate and graduate studies, my research focused on the epigenetically regulated antioxidant effects of natural plant compounds (phytoestrogens) in healthy human cells. I investigated which genes are most influenced by phytoestrogens, with the goal of identifying potential biomarkers for oxidative stress reversal and chronic disease prevention. Beyond academic research, I have been actively involved in knowledge translation, volunteering in food literacy and nutrition education initiatives in both classroom settings and public health programs. These experiences strengthened my commitment to bridging scientific discovery with practical health applications. In my free time, I enjoy cooking and experimenting with new recipes. I have also recently developed an interest in creative writing, which allows me to explore storytelling and creativity outside of my academic work.
Scientific pursuits:
Fields of passion: Nutriepigenomic, Disease prevention, Knowledge translation
The Invention that inspires me: Personalized medicine approaches
Scientist/Innovator whose work resonates deeply: Dr.Barbara Stefanska, who guided me into research and academia.
Inspirational Reads: Flowers for Algernon
How I’d like to contribute to the future of science: I hope to contribute to discover early signs of chronic disease and turning this knowledge into personalized approaches that make prevention a natural part of everyday life.
